Story:-
Jai (Pawan Kalyan) is a loyal follower of Bhagavan (Jackie Shroff), who is a big don in Kolkata. Kulakarni (Atul Kulakarni) is the rival of Bhagavan. Jai has a friend named Jahnavi (Anjali Lavania) who is a club dancer. Bhagavan’s sadistic son Munna (Adivi Seshu) has an eye on her. Meanwhile Jai falls in love with Sandhya (Sarah Jane). Munna kills Jahnavi as she rejects him. Then Jai kills him in turn. Now Jai becomes the prime target for Bhagavan. What happens next is to be seen on the screen.
Durga Analysis:
* After 11 long years from 'Kushi' Pawan could not satisfy his fans even with 'Panja'.
*Direction Vishnu Vardhan should have opted for other genre than mafia which we have seen Pawan earlier in 'Balu'. His style in taking and presentation are good but this cannot satisfy huge mass fans of Pawan in any way. He proved in extracting best from all technical departments.
*Pawan Kalyan excelled both as mafia leader and lover. His rugged look, dressing, body language, dialogue delivery is impressive. Especially in few scenes where his voice is used as narrative, he excels. His whole new look is a feast to fans.
*Sarah Jane is a major drawback, she does not possess cute and romantic looks which are very much needed for the character, Anjali Lavania has very lesser role, Jackie Shroff, Tanikella Bharani, Paruchuri, Atul Kulkarni and Subbaraju were as usual but new villain Adivi Sesh was excellent.
*Brahmanandam, Ali and Jhansi took care of the comedy part in second half and infact without Brahmanandam, second half would be incomplete.
Especially Paparayudu song shot on him and Pawan was hilarious.
*Music by Yuvan Shakar Raja is ok. Background music was haunting, title song which is the best number in audio was placed at the end titles instead should have placed before which would have added some mileage to the movie. Picturisation of songs was good, the first song is best among them.
*Cinematography by P.S.Vinod stands out excellent. Editing is slick, Abburi Ravi's dialogues are not sharp and powerful enough, Action sequences remind us regular Pawan style, and Choreography is ok. Production values are rich.
*Pawan should be very much choose in selecting scripts, because such class films and stylish directors cannot do any justice to his image or even satisfy the masses and 'B' 'C' centre audience.
*An actor like Pawan who has lot of ease, huge fans bank and good energy is a gift to tollywood industry, it is all in the hands of director to make good use of him where Vishnu Vardhan has totally failed.
